Following twenty years devoted to nurturing and instructing orphans across Africa, the Amituofo Care Center (ACC) is transitioning its emphasis towards a significant new objective: the extensive introduction and assimilation of Buddhism in its operational countries. This shift is illustrated by the creation of a Buddhist practice center in Madagascar, an initiative distinct from the orphanages ACC has established in nations such as Namibia and Mozambique. This denotes a strategic change from ACC's original mission, initiated by its founder, Ven. Hui Li, in Malawi in 2004.

The long-term objective is to make Buddhism an established religious tradition in Africa, familiar and native to the countries involved. This means fostering a tradition where African people directly connect with Buddhist philosophy, and where the Buddhist sangha, especially bhikkhus and bhikkhunis, are deeply integrated into African cultural norms.
